A zoetrope is a 19th-century animation device that creates the illusion of motion by displaying a sequence of static images in quick succession. It consists of a cylindrical drum with slits along the sides and a strip of images placed inside. When the drum is spun, and viewed through the slits, the images appear to blend together in rapid motion, creating an animated effect.
