I find when popping an abscess (releasing the pressure) the horse usually presents a more severe lameness immediately after, providing the abscess drains well the horse usually recovers very quickly within days. After five days in the barn with hand walks daily and hoof soaks…..we did not see an abscess blow. But. Mary was DONE. She was grabbing her big water tub and submerging her entire head and then grabbing it and flipping it over. Flooding her stall. 😑 I removed it and gave her hanging buckets. She would grab them and flop them around until they’re empty. After flooding her clean stall three times in two hours I decided she was kicked out again 🫠😂 #ironsidesanimalrescue #supportyourlocalanimalre
