In light of the current sperm whale stranding on Nantucket’s shores, we take a look back to New Year’s Eve, 1997 in this clip from “Bones of History.” Created exclusively for the Nantucket Historical Association by filmmaker John Stanton, the film documents the events surrounding the sperm whale that washed up on the eastern end of Nantucket and now hangs as the centerpiece of Gosnell Hall at the Nantucket Whaling Museum.
