Waymo launches driverless robotaxi service in Miami, marking its sixth U.S. market as the company accelerates expansion plans.

Driverless taxis may soon become a common sight on Orlando roadways as Waymo moves closer to launching commercial service in the city.

In November, Waymo expanded its service area to stretch across more than 260 square miles of the San Francisco Bay Area, and added freeway access for passengers. Riders can now hail a driverless ride to San Jose Mineta International Airport as well as San Francisco International Airport.

Waymo has worked for years to gain access to SFO.

Waymo is preparing to launch its driverless taxi service in London this year, expanding internationally even as U.S. regulators investigate recent safety incidents involving its autonomous vehicles.

Miami is the sixth market where Waymo offers driverless ride-hailing service, extending its lead over Tesla and Amazon -owned Zoox. As U.S. competition has lagged, Waymo's planned 2026 expansions could lock in rider demand and loyalty in the U.S.
