Florida Polytechnic University in Lakeland will launch an athletic program, competing in multiple sports as it seeks to join the NAIA.

Florida Polytechnic University, a STEM-focused school, is launching an intercollegiate athletics program. The teams, known as the Phoenix, will begin competing in August with their first soccer games.

High school teams competed in a U.S. Drone Soccer qualifier at SUNY Poly in Marcy, with winners advancing to the March 8 district championship.
